We are very pleased to say that our new education room is close to completion and we are taking bookings for Spring 2018 onwards. Our heritage Lottery grant means that we have been able to develop workshops for children that take place in the woodlands, stumpery and our newly developed Stallion yard. We have five workshops linked to the National Curriculum, each visit will be led by a qualified teacher with knowledge of the biodiversity of Wassand.Children can experience first hand the joys and wonder of nature whilst having fun. Each session is two hours and includes games, activities and team tasks.
A copy of our brochure can be accessed on the schools link or please telephone 01964 537474 for more information.
At the end of July and into August 2017 we were involved in the Big Butterfly Count, children came along to open days and recorded their sightings in the walled garden and throughout the grounds. The overall winner for 2017 was the gatekeeper butterfly, 93171 were spotted throughout the UK. We held our Butterfly afternoon on August the 2nd when children joined in with our butterfly and caterpillar trail, crafts, story time and competition.
Well done to Maud Gray and Luke Bedford for winning the Walled Garden Café competition!
Back to 2018, we’re looking forward to spring which will be an exciting time at Wassand, the snowdrops are about to emerge and we hope to see you soon.
